Selected
by Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren, Kaylor
Architects was commissioned to assist the church in creating a
new main entrance that was both inviting and welcoming and
that would serve to improve both pedestrian and vehicular
circulation. Resurrecting a spire concept that was proposed as
part of the building’s original design, it was relocated
to create a dramatic focal point on axis with the new
canopy, vestibule and spacious gathering area. MEP Consultant
Michael L. Norris Associates of State College provided
dramatic exterior lighting to accentuate the spires unique
layered cross design. The light filled gathering area allows
for improved fellowship, access to new church offices and a
separate and secure access to the fellowship hall. A choir
rehearsal room, accessible lavatory, and a baptismal changing
room complete the addition.
