Working with design build general contractor, Paul Risk
Associates, Inc., Kaylor Architects, Inc. was commissioned to
assist the congregation of New Providence Baptist Church in
creating a new one story accessible 250 seat sanctuary that
was both inviting and welcoming and that would serve to meet
the needs of their growing southern Lancaster County church.
The new church was nestled into an area adjacent to the
existing church, allowing for its construction as the
congregation maintained the use of their former two story,
inaccessible church. The modest church included a large
narthex with accessible restrooms, nursery, church offices and
storage rooms. A full immersion baptistery was designed into
the rear of the sanctuary. The design allows for the future
expansion of the church through preplanned connecting
corridors. The former church’s simple spire was relocated to
again signify to the congregation the entrance to their new
church while the former church building found new life as a
parish center.
