than 12 months after initially contacting Kaylor Architects
Inc. for professional design services, renovations to Tandem
Health Care’s Locust Grove Retirement Village located in Mifflin, PA are complete. Kaylor
Architects Inc. provided professional design and documentation
services to Tandem 
in Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
The clients pressing operational schedule to complete
design, documentation and construction within 12 months was a
challenge our office meet with the close and careful
coordination of the Tandem Health Care staff, Kaylor
Architects Inc. was able to receive Department of Health
approval for construction documents on the first submission to
the Department.

Architects Inc. provided organizational studies to develop efficient bathrooms, patient rooms, new nurse’ station and
physical therapy suite that will maximize circulation within
the renovated portion of the building as well as coordination
of major upgrades to mechanical, electrical and plumbing
systems. The renovations
include the transformation of an existing administrative wing
to a 25 bed residential wing.
The existing administrative office functions were
relocated and organized in areas of the building that were
initially found to be underused.
Structural modifications were required to locate
patient rooms along the exterior walls in order to provide the
necessary daylight and ventilation.
Residents began living in the new wing in
September 2006.
